Using the Stones that you acquire from Xanadu can be tricky at times. When you are looking to upgrade you hero you will come to this screen. Usually scrolling across the screen you can see other player that have upgraded their heroes at this level, and the number of crystals they succeeded with. (Gives you a general idea of where you need to be) I found these figures to be a good rule of thumb when upgrading your heroes.
Only use crystals if you are sure you will level up.
You get Stones from the following levels in Xanadu
Level 1-3 = level 1 crystals
Level 4-6 = level 2 crystals
Level 7-9 = level 3 crystals
To upgrade your Hero:
Level 1: 15 crystals - gives 5% boost to stats
Level 2 : 50 crystals - Gives 10% boost
Level 3: 100 crystals- gives 20% boost
Level 4: 200 crystals - Gives 30% boost
Level 4 requires 6 blessing crystals to fill the gauge 5 points. given that, 250-300 crystals should be enough
Level 5 requires 8 blessing crystals to fill the gauge 6 points. given that, 400-500 crystals should be enough (40% boost)
Level 6 requires 10 blessing crystals to fill the gauge 7 points. given that 600-800 crystals should be enough (55% boost)
For success in level 7, you should take at least 1000 blessing crystals level 3 with you.
It takes 12 blessing crystals to fill the gauge 8 points.
Level 8 takes 15 blessing crystals to fill the gauge 9 points.
I will have at least 1500 level 3 blessing crystals with me for that level. The boost is 85% for level 8.
And, lastly, take a full 2000 lvl 3 crystals for level 9 for the 100% boost.
Xanadu Strategy

This is a strategy that I use quite frequently when doing Xanadu to obtain level 3 rewards a majority of the time.
I have put the value of most items on the board in the image below. Most of the items you want to get are valued at 10pts.
After you get them they disappear from the board. and Most of the time you have just enough items on the board to
meet that level 3 goal if you get all of them. So..instead I go for the warp portals valued at 15pts. When used
they warp you to another spot on the board, but most importantly remain on the board. So starting off if warp portal
is close take it, then grab desired items around you making way to next warp. Alot of the time it will drop you
right next to another warp portal. You can rack up points pretty quickly this way. Once you are down to around 20 steps
remaining start making your way to the boss.
Hope this Helps
